Head Coach Greg Mays

Coach Mays enters his third season at the helm of the Tigers after an initial 10-11 season and a disappointing 2-18 follow-up. Mays returned to Hastings in 2007 after five seasons as the boys' coach at Blue Hill High School. There his teams won 52 games, won one regular season conference title (2003) and played in two conference tournament championship games (2006 and 2007). He also led the Bobcats football team for one season in 2005 as Blue Hill reached the state quarterfinals with an upset win over the state's number-one ranked team, East Butler. Mays also served three years as Bobcat Athletic Director.

Mays began his coaching career in Hastings as junior high football (12 years) and basketball (7 years) coach. He led one undefeated basketball squad and two unbeaten football teams at HJH/HMS. He served three more seasons as HHS junior varsity boys coach under Joe Sajevic including two state tournament appearances.

Mays is a graduate of Hastings College (1990) and Hastings High School (1986). He teaches English at HHS. His wife Ann also teaches at HHS, and they have four children: Zoe, Ryder, Emma and Hayden. Zoe will be a sophomore returning letterman for the Tigers next winter.

Junior Varsity Coach MIke Nanfito

Coach Nanfito has just finished his first year with the Tiger Program. Coach Nanfito is a Millard West and Hastings College graduate. Coach ‘Fito leads the Tigers boys soccer program in the spring. He led HHS to the state tournament in 2007 and 2009. Coach Nanfito's first JV team fell just short of tying the school record with a fantastic 10-5 season.

Reserve A Coach Ashley Speak

Coach Speak prepares for her third season with the Tiger Program. Coach Speak, a Lexington native, is a UNK graduate. As a Loper she earned Academic All-American status in softball. Coach Speak is also the HHS co-head softball coach. Coach Speak's sophomore team posted a 5-3 record last winter.  This year she takes over the lead of our new reserve (freshmen-sophomore) program.

Varsity Assistant Coach Tate Mays

Coach Tate Mays handles a lot of our scouting and also serves as co-director of the Tiger Hoops youth program. He has been a standard in the Hastings youth sports scene for over a decade, serving variously as a coach in youth football, basketball, baseball and soccer. He is currently the head coach of the Midget Football Chargers (reigning two-time city champions) and serves on the American Legion Baseball Committee as the commissioner of the Pony League. He has also served as a middle school assistant coach in both football and basketball.

Reserve B/C Head Coach Tamisha Osgood

Coach Osgood joined the Tiger Program in 2007 and led the freshmen to a 6-9 season despite significant struggles with injury and illness amongst the players. At Hastings College Coach Osgood was an All-American in track. She is the indoor and out record holder in the 400 meters at HC. She is also a track assistant at HHS, and teaches at Abraham Lincoln Elementary. Her husband Zack is a Hastings College track coach.

Reserve Assistant Coach Brooke Woodward

Coach Woodward joins the program this year.  She is a HHS alum and was a standout three-sport athlete as a Tiger, starring in softball, basketball and soccer.

8th Grade Coach Jason Cafferty

Coach Cafferty moved to middle school in 2007 after four years as the Tiger varsity coach. His knowledge of what the young girls need to learn in order to compete at the high school level is a great asset to our program. Coach Cafferty and the rest of the middle school staff are excited to enter their new facility this year. Coach Cafferty is also a Hastings High alum ('92) and played for two state tournament basketball teams. Also an outstanding baseball player, he pitched at both the collegiate and professional level.

8th Grade Assistant Coach Teressa Mustin

Coach Mustin makes the move to the middle school as the program expands to include both 7th and 8th graders. She brings a wealth of experience from her years as basketball JV coach and varsity volleyball coach at HHS. She is also the middle school volleyball coach. Coach Mustin played basketball at Hastings College where she was a part of the school's first national championship team.

7th Grade Coach Lance Davis

Coach Davis moved to the 7th grade level to start that program after six years of coaching the 8th grade boys and girls. Coach Davis is also a former head coach of the Hastings American Legion Baseball program. Coach Davis is a Hastings High graduate ('83) who participated in football, basketball, track, and baseball. He played baseball collegiately at Connors State, Oklahoma University and Oklahoma City University. He was drafted by two major league baseball teams.

7th Grade Assistant Coach Cody Oschner

Coach Oschner will be in her second year working with our new 7th grade program. She moved to the new Hastings Middle School from Morton Elementary with the transfer of the sixth graders to that building.
